Covid – 19 : Precautions to take for your wedding planning

How to plan for your wedding

During a time of crisis (aka Covid-19)

Many of you may have experienced by now the severity of this outbreak, with businesses being affected all across; from restaurants, to hotels, to event companies and even private celebration such as birthday parties and weddings are also facing the brunt of the impact.

In light of this, we at Loveinstills have came up with some ‘precautionary measures’ so as to minimize (and hopefully contain) this and future outbreak before it affects the health of our Clients (and inadvertently our livelihood). One thing is for sure, every crisis has a root, and this is how we aim to tackle it.

1. Facemask

Facemask, Air+

Some say by wearing it will help to minimize the risk of transmission. Some believe that this will help prevent accidental touching of our faces.

To wear or not to wear? That is the question on everyone’s mind.

Our take

From a wastage stand-point – it is impractical to wear it on a daily basis, typically if you are not sick. some may argue that how would they know if the other party is infected and one may face the potential of being exposed. If such is the question, then one would need to ask if they should go out or not. By wearing the face mask, one would need to avoid touching it to avoid contamination (let’s be honest), how many of us are guilty of pulling it down to our chin while having a meal or removing altogether just because we do not want to soil it. And according to the medical advise, you can only wear the mask no more than 4-5hrs before swapping for a new pair.

Just imagine, with a population size of 5 million, and assuming that everyone does it, you will likely need on an average of 20 million masks per day. Beside the logistical nightmare of procuring the masks, this will present another health risk, which is the disposal.

So, in short…. if you are not sick, don’t wear it. If you are afraid of being exposed, then stay at home. If you know of anyone who is sick, make them wear it. It is the responsibility of every household to make sure that their family members are not out and about spreading like Santa on Christmas eve.

And this bring us to our 2nd point

2. Temperature checks

Infra red thermometer

Ignore the item on the left (that’s a hygrometer), the thermometer (item right), is an essential arsenal in your fight against this outbreak. So be socially responsible, do a temperature check twice a day and see if there is any increment. If you are feeling ill, stay at home. It is pointless to go from GP to GP and hoping for a miracle cure. Your best bet is to stay at home and rest. And if your condition worsen within the next few days, it is best to contact NCID (National Centre for Infectious Disease) and have them take you in for further monitoring and treatment.

In short, be socially responsible.  Do regular temperature check. Self quarantine if necessary.

Having said, a wedding is supposed to be a happy occasion where the couple celebrate the beginning of their union as husband and wife.  We would not want every one to worry, neither would we want to be careless and risk being exposed. So while we are busy preparing to capture your beautiful moments, we would recommend that the couple can take the following precautionary measures to make sure that everyone not only had a great time and stay healthy, but we as the creative minds in charge of capturing the memories are also taken care of (one way or another).

Here are our new guidelines

Kindly ensure that all guests have their temperature recorded in the morning and inform the CLIENT accordingly. Additional temperature checks can be taken before entry to the event space (but not a must if the temperature has been registered before leaving home).

It is pointless to have them check at the event hall where everyone is already being exposed.

2. Loveinstills will also do the same for all our staff member and inform the couple accordingly

  3. For tea ceremony. It is best advised to use only disposable cups. Tea Ceremony area should have at least a 2.5m x 2.5m space (for better camera angle and distancing)

 4. Due to social distancing practice, we hope that the guests will cooperate by not taking photos/videos with their phone. If they insist, they can do so at the opposing side from us.

And the final question, to postpone or not.

THIS …. is entirely up to you. Perhaps these Q&A might help you to decide better?  (note that this is our opinion and you are free to make whatever decision you want [unfortunately we can’t chose the outcome])

  1. Are all the vendors able to accommodate to your new date? (ie hotels, photographers, videographers, make up artist, gowns, car rental etc)
  2. Can you look at having a smaller scale wedding?  (its not about recouping your expenditure, but rather to spend your celebration with those who really matters)
  3. In this time, everyone will surely be facing some financial losses, so don’t make it about how much you will lose, but think of your life time of happiness of being together. After all, that is what your wedding is all about.

All these are presumably that the government has not impose any curfew. Otherwise, it is best to follow what the health authority says.
